You've
Never Rowed in a Race Like this Before...
The grueling
18-mile race course consists of three 6-mile laps on the Schuylkill
River. Each lap runs from the top of Boathouse Row upriver to the 2,000-meter
starting line and back again. Boats will be started in headrace fashion,
in 10-second intervals, starting with singles and ending with eights.
Will this lead to lots of precarious passing? You bet. We'll also have
timing stations every 1½ miles of the race, and we'll provide each boat
with a personalized results summary.
Yikes!
18 Miles?
The race
has been designed to accommodate both competitive and charitable folks
alike. If you love to race, take a stab at winning your category and
earn yourself an NK SpeedCoach Gold System. If the long course is not
your style, just row one or two laps and have fun while helping a local
cause.
Entry
Fees and Donations
The event
is being held to benefit the Philadelphia Community Boathouse Initiative.
Each competitor is required to raise $50 for the cause. You are strongly
encouraged to find sponsors for the event and raise more than the minimum.
Plus, for every additional $50 raised, you'll earn a ticket for the
grand prize drawing. So get out there and find some sponsors for this
great local cause!
NEW!
Masters Time Handicaps
Now times
will be adjusted for competitors in the Master division. Plus, the Master
who wins each category will also walk away with a brand new SpeedCoach
Gold System! Click here for info on the time
adjustments.
Awards
and Prizes - I Won! I Won!
With $10,000
worth of prizes this year, It's nearly impossible to walk away from
this race empty handed. You can win something for rowing really fast,
raising mad cash, successfully wrangling rubber duckies, or being just
plain lucky. And if all else fails, we'll still give you a regatta t-shirt.
See the Prizes Page for details.
Post-Regatta
Reception
There will
be good food, cold drinks, loud music, and lots and lots of ducks. In
fact, feel free to skip the race altogether and just join us for a cold
beverage afterwards (as long as you make a donation, of course).
